Snuggly Manatee Sitting Still

A round, wrinkly manatee sits with flipper arms folded right over its soft belly. Its nose puckers out, and whiskers bunch up like tiny dots. The manatee’s eyelids droop halfway, as if it might doze off at any moment, looking completely at peace.

Big, smooth flippers spread out to the sides, making the manatee look even cozier. Every line and fold shows off his gentle, slow-moving life under the water. He almost looks like he is waiting for someone to tell him a funny story or share a snack of sea grass.

Fun Fact!

Manatees need warm water to survive (above 68°F or 20°C) because they don't have a thick layer of blubber like whales to keep them warm.
