Gentle Manatee Gliding Underwater

Big round eyes blink from the friendly manatee, who floats slowly between waving blades of sea grass. His paddle-shaped flippers move just a little as bubbles drift from his nose, rising toward the top of the water. Soft wrinkles fold around his chubby face, and his broad tail brushes gently behind him.

Off to the side, a curious little fish peeks in, swimming close as if to say hello. Sand covers the bottom, peppered with rocks and wiggly plants that reach up tall. The water ripples above, making a quiet, peaceful world right beneath the surface.

Fun Fact!

Amazonian manatees live only in the freshwaters of the Amazon River basin in South America.
