Sleepy Stripes in the Tall Grass

This gentle tiger curls up for a well-earned nap, her big paws tucked under her chin and tail wrapped close beside her. She stretches out on the soft ground, her whiskers twitching in a dream and one furry ear flopped just a bit to the side. Black stripes sweep along her back and tail, making patterns for tiny fingers to trace.

Her eyes stay mostly closed, but her nose sniffs the warm air. Broad shoulders and round cheeks show she is strong, even when resting. Today, the jungle is quiet, and the only thing left to do is snuggle up and fill each stripe with color.

White tigers are extremely rare in the wild; nearly all white tigers seen today live in zoos or special reserves and are descended from one white tiger captured in India in the 1950s.
