Grumpy Ogre By the Pond

The ogre boy sits at the pond with his chin in his fist. His droopy eyes and wrinkly frown show a heavy day. He plunks a pebble into the water, and round ripples race away. Big bare toes curl at the muddy edge while he watches the splash.

Twisty trees frame the scene, their branches like long fingers. Tall cattails poke up beside clumps of grass, and smooth stones dot the shore. He wears a sleeveless tunic and a tiny pendant, and freckles speckle his strong arms. Wide shapes and simple lines leave plenty of room for bright crayons.

Fun Fact!

The famous ogre in Charles Perrault's "Puss in Boots" was a wealthy, shapeshifting monster.
