The Spotted Leopard’s Curious Reflection

A young leopard sits still, his shoulders tall and eyes wide with wonder. His golden fur bristles with thick, inky spots, each one different from the next, like a jungle of tiny shadows across his body. He leans toward a shiny oval mirror and studies the smooth cheetah staring back at him from the glass, a face shaped just like his own – but without any spots at all.
