King Leo and His Wild Mane

A wise old lion lifts his chin, his whiskers poking forward and his eyes glancing sideways. Every line in his face shows strength and kindness, and his thick mane sweeps around him in big fluffy waves. It looks as if the wind has just puffed through, making each tuft of mane twist in a different way.

The lion’s mane covers nearly his whole neck, curling and zigzagging like sunbeams all around his head. His ears peek out from the fur near the top, listening for the smallest sound. With just a swish of his tail off the page, he seems ready to sneeze or maybe break into a slow, liony grin.

Fun Fact!

A lion's roar is made by a special structure in its throat with flexible cartilage, different from cats that purr continuously.
