Many-Mouth Max the Watchful Monster

Max stomps onto the page with lumpy, wavy skin and a big round eye perched on top. A ring of smaller eyes watches from his shoulders and chest, each wide and shiny. He bends his knees and spreads his clawed toes, like he is balancing for a careful, gentle step. Wrinkles ripple over his belly where a row of mouths begins to grin.

Those mouths stack across his tummy, all full of neat oval teeth, each mouth open in a different shape as if they sing together. He lifts long arms and curls three thick claws on each hand, ready for a double wave. Big spaces on his body beg for bold colors, while the tiny teeth add a fun little challenge. Max looks silly-scary, but friendly enough to join story time.
