Ogre Boy and the Giant Swirl Pop

A little ogre boy hugs a lollipop almost bigger than his head. He squints and sticks out his huge tongue, trying to taste every stripe. The spiral loops round and round while thick drops slide over his hands. Candy puddles splash by his toes as the sweet melt keeps dripping.

Tiny horns peek from his hair, and pointy ears stretch wide from his round head. Freckles dot his cheeks, and a raggy tunic ties with a simple rope. He leans forward, clutching the stick with both hands, tongue hanging long and silly. Bold lines leave big spaces for the swirl, the sticky drops, and his chubby toes.

Fun Fact!

The mother of the monster Grendel in "Beowulf" is another ogre-like, monstrous figure who lives in a swamp.
