Wombat on the Wobbly Log Bridge

At a quiet creek, a chunky wombat tiptoes across a fallen log. He presses his nose close to the wood and places each paw carefully. Tall reeds curl like long ribbons on both sides, and smooth rocks rest by the bank. His round ears point forward as he balances.

Under the log, the water makes a mirror that shows his upside-down twin. Ripples wiggle the picture and make the whiskers dance. The wombat peeks at his reflection as if it might whisper back. There is plenty of open space for bright reeds, shiny water, and a warm brown log.

Fun Fact!

The Southern Hairy-nosed Wombat is a bit more social and might share its large warren with other wombats.
