Wombat Meets His Splashy Twin

A round, sleepy-eyed wombat pads to the pond. He lowers his nose, whiskers tickling the water, and takes a quiet sip. Ripples wiggle out and draw squiggly lines around his snout. On the bank, little clumps of grass lean in like curious fans.

Down in the water, his shiny reflection peeks back like a mirror-buddy. The two wombats almost touch, nose to nose, with only the water line between them. His soft fur makes big spaces to color, while the ripples and grass add wiggles for tiny crayons. Give him a cozy dusk or bright noon, and let the pond sparkle.

Fun Fact!

In captivity, without predators and with good care, wombats can live much longer, sometimes for 20 to 30 years!
